Origin/Habitat: Rambutan tree is a perennial type of fruit tree which grows in tropical area including the ASEAN region

Details: Is a flowering tree and usually planted as an ornamental plant. The blueish white flower is placed on the 16 cm long ‘verticil’ and have long filament which looks like a cat’s whiskers. The herb plant leaves are arranged in opposite pairing order and have smooth, green colour, tapering at the end. The leaves’ stem is only about 0.3 cm long and purplish-red in colour. The stalk of the cat whiskers tree is square in shape, reddish in colour and grows vertically and have many branches.

Uses: Rambutan tree’s fruits which is called rambutan can be eaten. It has sweet translucent flesh, which is usually white in color.

Production: Cultivated and planted in orchards
